Hello my fellow Disney lovers! Welcome to another addition of Disneypotterlock, where I talk about all things Disney, Sherlock and Harry Potter! Today I wanted talk about a new-ish trend around the Disney fandom: Disneybounding.
I’ve mentioned Disneybounding in my post “Times you realize you’re a Disney Addict”, but for the people new to the trend, Disneybounding is when you take the aesthetic of a character you like and create an outfit based off of that. I’ve included some fun examples below and some cools stores where you can get similar items.
Disneybounding is great for Disney fangirls and fanboys who want to represent their favorite characters. It’s also a clever loophole to wear your favorite characters outfits without getting in trouble at Disney World or Disneyland for wearing costumes. Disney doesn’t want adults doing this because it could confuse the kids as to why there are five Belles or Gastons walking around. You all must be wondering…who created such a fabulous idea?
Leslie Kay created the idea of Disneybounding a few years ago when she went with a group of friends and they were literally “Disney bound.” They posted some pictures of their outfits while in the parks and Disneybound was born!
I am a new Disneybounder myself, but it’s already taking over my wardrobe choices! So far I’ve done Perdita from 101 Dalmatians, Ariel from the Little Mermaid and Alice from Alice in Wonderland. It’s fun coming into work on Thursdays (my designated Disneybound day) and see if my coworkers can guess my character.
Since I enjoy this fun aspect of Disney, I wanted to share it with you and see what Disneybounds you will create. Again, don’t forget to check out some of my examples below if you need help!
To make this more interesting, it’s time for the contest I promised!
