That time you realize you’re a Disney addict

Posted July 17, 2015

Welcome to another addition of Disneypotterlock, where I talk about all things Disney, Harry Potter and Sherlock! It has come to my attention that I may be nerdier than I originally thought. This came about earlier this week, when I had to explain a Disney movie to my boss. The thought of someone not knowing what Hercules is threw me off! If it’s happened to me, surely it’s happened to some of y’all! So, here are the top five times you might realize you’re a Disney addict.

1. When you have to explain something to your not so Disney obsessed friends.

For me, it’s insane that someone doesn’t know what Beauty and the Beast’s songs are. Sure, I was in the musical version so I know the songs better, but it’s a classic! And they have no idea that Wall-E was named after Walter Elias Disney!

2. You have to stop what you’re doing and sing certain Disney songs.

My sister and I have a Disney Pandora playlist where we sing all of our favorite songs. We could be having the most important conversation ever, but if the Circle of Life comes on, it goes on the backburner. “NANTSSSSS INGONYAMAAA BAGITHIII BABAAAA” comes over the speakers and we can’t discuss anything until the song is over. Maybe it’s the magic of Hans Zimmer and Sir Elton John that prevents us from disrupting the song. Whatever it is, I now have it stuck in my head.

3. You can incorporate Disney movie quotes into conversations.

Again, this involves the adventures of my sister and I (she will probably be mentioned a lot on this blog). We have this strange ability to remember useless facts and movie quotes. This results in Disney quotes being incorporated into conversations that will normally lead into a quote war. For example: one day my sister and I were talking about something we were angry about and then…. “ladies don’t start fights, but they can finish them!” a quote from Marie in the Aristocats pops up.

4. You accidently Disneybound at work.

Disneybounding is when you put together an outfit inspired by the aesthetic or colors of a character. Today, for example, I accidentally did a disneybound of a dapper Perdita from 101 Dalmatians. Yay vintage and polka dots! I have now made it my mission to do as many work appropriate disneybounds as possible and see if my coworkers notice.

5. Your Facebook, Instagram and Twitter look like my Tumblr, which is full of Disney.

Sure, Tumblr is great for Disney posts, by why stop there? My other social media pages are covered in Disney as well. When one is addicted to Disney, one reblogs, likes and retweets it constantly!

Do you relate to any of these? Tell your stories by posting them on your favorite social media with the hashtag #disneypotterlock! Stay Disney my friends!
