Summer Date Ideas

Summer lovin’, having a blast…

Posted July 27, 2015

When we think of summer, we think of summer romance. Whether your relationship is brand new or well established, summer means grabbing your main squeeze and heading outdoors. Need some inspiration? Read our summer date guide below, and make sure to check out our events this summer.

Go on a Picnic

It might seem a bit cliché to have a picnic date, but there’s a reason for that. What’s more romantic than setting up in a quiet space, under a tree, maybe strumming a guitar, feeding each other grapes, enjoying the breeze and each other’s company?

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • A picnic basket. Some have wheels for easy transport, refrigeration compartments and convenient spots for corkscrews, utensils, napkins and even salt-and-pepper shakers
  • A delicious selection of sandwiches and snacks Packing tip: store sandwiches and sides in separate sealable containers for easy storage and cleanup
  • A bottle (or two) of a light, crisp wine
  • A colorful beach ball, Frisbee, paddle-ball game or kite for when that burst of energy strikes you
  • A large blanket for two that allows you to stretch out

Take in an Outdoor Concert

Kind of like a nighttime picnic with music, summer concert series are an ideal venue for a date. Share your love of blues, jazz, rock-n-roll (or whichever genre suits your mood) as you sit under the stars.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • A few foldable, lightweight chairs to plop down
  • A lightweight cooler to keep your sodas or white wine at the ideal temperature
  • A cart to wheel everything there and back with ease
  • Your dancing shoes
  • Ear plugs, in case you’re very close to the speakers

Walk Around an Art Festival

The same folks who wouldn’t think to spend an afternoon inside a museum, flock eagerly to outdoor art festivals. Why? The sunshine and lively crowds create a welcoming and joyous atmosphere that is fun for both novice and experienced art lovers. Art festivals are a great place to soak in some culture, food, music and sun.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Plenty of sunscreen
  • A sun hat
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • A water bottle (got to stay hydrated)
  • An expandable cloth or mesh shopping bag in case you find a souvenir

Enjoy the ease of summer dates, and don’t forget to check out our events for other great ideas!
