Pastels for Men

Yes, real men can wear pastels…

Posted June 24, 2015

There used to be almost a fashion taboo around men wearing feminine-associated pastel shades, especially pink. Today, pastel colored menswear is no longer off-limits and, in fact, has achieved mainstream acceptance. But there are ways to wear these hues so you don’t look like you’re in an Easter parade. Just follow our 3 easy tips.

Brighten up your pants and shorts: Save the brighter colors for your legs and pair that peachy trouser short with a crisp white top. This spring, men’s trousers can be found in a multitude of shades. The general rule of thumb for pastels is to pair them with a neutral color so as not to overwhelm the eye.

Reverse it; put the color on top: Women have known for years that wearing colors close to the face is flattering. Men, too, can make those baby blues stand out by wearing colorful tees or button-downs with neutral khakis or jeans.

Keep the color to your accessories: Maybe you’re wearing some neutral shades—tan shorts and an off-white shirt. Throw on a turquoise belt or a dusty rose jacket. Or, if you’re going for a dressier look, put on a pastel-colored skinny tie or a colorful pocket square to make the outfit more intriguing.

Pastels are a great way to show some fashion flare this summer. Dull browns and tans pale in comparison.
