Spring weather presents a bit of an office conundrum. What’s breezy enough to wear in the outdoor sun might conflict with the indoor air conditioning. Plus, depending upon your office dress code, something too short or sheer might be met with disapproving raised brows. Below, we’ve gathered our favorite spring trends that are incredibly fashionable but also entirely office appropriate.
Shift Dresses
What can be more stylish in the office than the completely on-trend spring shift dress? Both lightweight and conservative, shift dresses come in everything this season from prim and proper linen, to striped canvas, exotic floral prints, and everything in between. Add a thin cardigan for that chilly forced air conditioning, and then fling it around your neck when temperatures go up. Shift dresses look great with a belt or chunky necklace; add a stacked sandal for a workweek right from the runway.
Crop Tops
Short shirts return this spring, but baring your “rib-driff” around the office? Completely up to you… but many workplace dress codes don’t permit a ton of skin. You can still get in on the trend and be office-ready, though, by wearing a tasteful crop top with a (matching) high-waisted pencil skirt or a pair of roomy pants, like culottes or trendy flares. Just make sure the waist of your skirt or pants meets the bottom of your crop top so that you’re not revealing too much (or, go ahead and tuck in your crop top and add a skinny belt – you’ll get a classy look without the bulk of a full-sized blouse). Cropped sweaters and jackets also make great toppers to any work outfit.
Fun Footwear
Heels or flats may be your go-to for work, but this spring there are oodles of new shoe styles that are taking over. Try a ghillie-inspired flat or kitten heel instead of a boring slip-on. Prefer a little height? Instead of patent pumps, pick a peep toe bootie instead or a mule with a trendy back heel strap. Don’t shy away from chic earthy styles either; espadrilles and cork wedges are also very fashionable in springtime (and comfy). Shoes are the easiest way to add a little pop of spring to your office outfit, so don’t ignore your tootsies this season.
These fresh spring looks will have you stepping into your office in style, and making it a little more fun to head to work as the weather improves.
